How much will it cost?
Our standard residential system is priced in the range $3,995 to $4,995 installed, depending upon site specific solar and plumbing requirements.
Will I need to replace my water cylinder?
No, our systems can be retrofitted to your existing water cylinder. If you cylinder is old/poorly insulated, we may recommend that you change the cylinder to maximise the performance of the system.
Does it matter if I currently have a wetback installed on my fire?
No it does not matter. Both can be integrated effectively into your existing water cylinder. In fact, the combination of wetback and solar gives you summer and winter options.
Do I need to get a building consent?
Yes you will need a building consent from your local council. However we will manage this process on your behalf as part of the service.
Is the system only suitable for houses?
No, the system can be scaled for multiple applications. We have installed our systems for swimming pool heating, and are currently planning dairy industry trials.
Do you install as well as supply systems?
Yes, we operate our own team of qualified solar installers and plumbers. Our pricing is always provided including installation. We are in the process of establishing a broader network of approved installers throughout New Zealand. Solar installations should always be undertaken under the guidance of a registered Craftsman Plumber.
What do the systems look like installed?

Does my house need to face a certain way?
The solar collector needs to be facing between north west and north east to function most effectively. A north facing roof surface is best, if available.
Will I need any structural reinforcement on my roof?
No. As our systems do not require a water tank to be located on the roof, the total weight is only approximately 60kg. Therefore no reinforcement should be necessary. We do however verify this when we survey.
How long is the payback period on the purchase cost?
This will depend on a number of factors including future electricity prices, size of system installed, water usage patterns and so on. We would discuss this with you at the survey stage.
